Uniting the forces of public welfare and passing on the torch of charity. On January 26, 2026, the Ninth Public Welfare Grand Ceremony concluded successfully at Phoenix City in Guangzhou. Public welfare representatives from academic, business, literary and artistic, media, and other sectors across China and overseas gathered under one roof. They shared inspiring stories of public service, exchanged insights on development, explored new pathways for public welfare and philanthropy in the new era, and offered valuable suggestions to advance the high-quality development of China’s charity sector.
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China explicitly called for “guiding and supporting enterprises, social organizations, and individuals who are willing and able to actively participate in public welfare and philanthropic causes” and for “building a social governance community in which everyone bears responsibility, everyone fulfills their duties, and everyone shares in the benefits.” These directives have charted the course for the development of public welfare and charity in the new era.
Themed “Spreading Love, Advancing Together on the Path of Benevolence”, this year’s grand ceremony comprised three chapters: the social responsibility and commitment of public welfare practitioners, the development and inheritance of public welfare undertakings, and the Night of Public Welfare Imagery.
At the opening ceremony, leading officials and distinguished guests jointly inaugurated the event. Representatives of public welfare enterprises and individuals from across the country took the stage in turn, sharing their distinctive practices, research achievements, and heartwarming stories tied to their respective fields. The spirit of mutual assistance—“I am for everyone, and everyone is for me”—ran through the entire proceedings, earning repeated rounds of warm applause.
Gu Jinchang, President of the Huaxia Qipao Culture Research Institute and President of Senyi Cultural Development (Kunshan) Co., Ltd., was invited to attend. Drawing on his own public welfare and philanthropic initiatives, he engaged in in-depth exchanges and sharing, and granted an exclusive interview to the program Focus on Public Welfare. During the event, the Huaxia Qipao Culture Research Institute received the 2025 Annual Public Welfare Practice Award, Gu Jinchang was honored with the 2025 Annual Public Welfare Pathfinder Award, and Senyi Cultural Development (Kunshan) Co., Ltd. won the 2025 Annual Rural Revitalization Contribution Award.
The event was jointly hosted by the TV program Focus on Public Welfare, Yiyang Network, China Vision Caifeng Network, and other media outlets, and organized by the Beijing Century Caifeng Radio, Film and Television Planning Center. Since its inception in 2017, the Public Welfare Grand Ceremony has been successfully held for nine consecutive editions. With strong support from all sectors of society, it has brought together enterprises, social organizations, academic institutions, media, and multiple other forces, establishing itself as the most influential annual event in China’s public welfare and philanthropy sector. The successful staging of this ceremony not only created a valuable platform for exchange and collaboration among public welfare actors, but also harnessed the positive energy of the entire society to strive upward and do good—infusing fresh momentum into the development of public welfare undertakings in the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan.
